A data pool is a cloud-based type of data storage. The term is often used synonymously with "data warehouse". In contrast to data lakes, data pools store structured data in uniform formats. This way, the data is readily available for use without the need for prior processing.
In the context of an urban data platform, a data pool is a central database into which all connected sources feed their data using predefined formats and at predefined frequencies. This process is also called "data pooling". This reduces the size of the data pool compared to a data lake. Data pools are also usually used by fewer players and require an administrator to take over or monitor the data pooling.
In the case of the DKSR platform, an integrated Elasticsearch module is used as a data pool.
